BW’s post below was excellent. This is an employee’s market. Interview and


you might be very surprised at what’s out there. Employers are very accommodating. If you can’t move and there are no other jobs within commuting distance, look at jobs further away. They might consider a virtual or hybrid working arrangement. If hybrid, they might consider footing the bill for a hotel or corporate apartment.

Doing something - anything - can have a positive impact on your state of mind, so I’d definitely send some resumes and schedule interviews even if you don’t think they’ll lead anywhere. Like BW said, getting some practice interviewing for less promising jobs will benefit you when you’re interviewing for jobs you’re really interested in.
